Before You Speak

Six principles for private conversation and public discourse:

1. Discern the context before you speak.
2. Avoid words that dishonor individuals or sacred institutions.
3. Keep your humor above the beltline.
4. Treat each person with respect and honor.
5. Your adversary is a lie, not a person.
6. Undisciplined anger is your cue to remain silent.
