You have felt that God has put a leash on your life like someone who would leash an unruly dog to keep it under control. God never puts a leash on His children. He has given you the ability to choose how you will respond to life.
One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. You have been given the ability to govern your emotions. This is what it means to possess a free will. God wants you to live in the freedom of personal self-control and choice. This is the strongest evidence that you are a new creation empowered by the Spirit of God.
Refuse all forms of religious bondage as proof of your devotion to God. These self-imposed restraints do nothing to help you conquer the influences of evil in your life. Allowing a leash of bondage to remain attached to your neck does not prove your love or devotion to God, it only reveals a place in your life where God desires to set you free.
