There are experts in every field, even in spiritual matters. While a lot of what these experts share is helpful, they are not the gatekeepers of wisdom and revelation. Experts have gained knowledge from studying the history of what has transpired in the past in an attempt to help us predict the future. This can be valuable but it is not what moves the Church forward into new territory. Faith sees what the data cannot see. The exercise of faith toward what is not yet visible or knowable is what moves us forward. These unique acts of faith are not discovered in data or history. There are spiritual and unique to each situation.
The edge of expanding revelation is where reformation and revival are birthed. In this place new and previously unheard of instruction comes to spiritually hungry people whether they are expert or not. It is at this spiritual frontier where our faith is exercised and a new and previously hidden direction is revealed. History, data and expert knowledge do not fuel the exercise of this kind of faith. In these places, personal vulnerability and fear must be overcome because what God is revealing seems far beyond the limited confidence that expert data can provide. It is here where you are alone with God walking in a level of faith that will invite you to step into the unknown trusting only in God.
At this point of revelation, all people are equal. There are no experts or rookies here, only candidates for the miraculous. Gather all the expert advice you can and learn from others but never forget that somewhere in the future you will have the opportunity to exercise your faith and write a history the experts do not yet see because it has been hidden in the heart of God, not in facts or figures, for such a time as this.
