The Artwork of God

You have viewed some of your work for God as a loss. He is about to correct that faulty thinking and show you that whatever you did for Him is never a loss. It has become an offering to Him. He will repay you and upgrade you far beyond the perceived value of those things you now consider lost forever.

Pablo Picasso, the great Spanish artist of the cubist movement, was not always the famous artist we know today whose works hang in some of the most prestigious collections around the world. When Picasso was a young and struggling artist he spent a winter in Paris and was forced to burn some of his earliest works just to stay warm and survive a frigid European winter. His art became fuel for a fire that saved his life.

At the time, when Picasso burned his work he had no idea of its future value. He had no retrospect in which to make that assessment. I am not sure what he felt in his later years as success and fame surrounded his life. How are you dealing with your retrospect concerning loss? Those memories can become an inhibitor to you moving forward if you allow them to become a place of unresolved sorrow. Your Kingdom creativity can stop there if you focus more on what was lost in the past than what is possible in the future.

For Picasso, the struggles he experienced in his early life actually formed his later work and the images he created. The same is true for you in a spiritual sense. Whatever you gave up in the past for God just to stay alive in a cold season has become the fuel for a fire that will continually offer up to God the sweet aroma of your sacrifice. God does not forget sacrifice. Live in the expectation that good is coming in your future. Its arrival will far outweigh any loss you experienced in a cold and difficult season in your past. God will use those experiences to paint the portrait of your life that will hang in the gallery of Heaven.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10).
